Such products did not undergo a review by the FDA nor by a local marketing authorization holder, to check compliance with quality and safety standards. To check if a cosmetic product is notified with the FDA, the FDA Verification Portal feature is accessible at https://verification.fda.gov.ph.
The FDA further warns concerned establishments not to distribute cosmetic products without the appropriate authorization. The FDA also warns that establishments who participates in the online selling of cosmetic products without prior authorization from the FDA shall be subject to imposable penalties stipulated in RA No. 9711 and its IRR. The FDA continuously coordinates with online market platforms, such as but not limited to Shopee and Lazada, to ensure compliance to existing laws, rules and regulations governing cosmetic products.
