The Center for Drug Regulation and Research (CDRR) hosted a productive morning session of Kapihan at Talakayan for Human Drugs this January 18, 2024, at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) lobby.

Representatives from prominent pharmaceutical industries, including the Consumer Healthcare Industry Association of the Philippines (CHAP), Philippine Association of Pharmacists in the Pharmaceutical Industry (PAPPI), Philippine Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry (PCPI), Philippine College of Pharmaceutical Medicine (PCPM), Philippine Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA), Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Association of the Philippines (PHAP), Philippine Drug Importers and Distributors Organization Inc. (PDIDOI), and Drugstores Association of the Philippines (DSAP), actively participated in this quarter’s dialogue.

In a notable shift from past sessions, the highlight was on the industries themselves, as they seized the opportunity to present insights and suggestions aimed at advancing healthcare for the Filipino population.

The CDRR Director, Ms. Jesusa Joyce N. Cirunay emphasized in her opening remarks the importance of this exchange, stating, “[The Kapihan at Talakayan is]… a way for us to hear from you and for the industry to also hear from us… at the end of the day, Pilipino tayo na umiinom ng gamot” (Translation: “…a way for us to hear from you and for the industry to also hear from us… at the end of the day, we are Filipinos who consume medicines”).

This dynamic approach aims to foster a collaborative environment where regulatory bodies and industries work hand in hand to address healthcare challenges and ensure that the Filipino people are receiving safe, efficacious, and quality health products.
