The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been invited to be part of the DTI and Go Negosyo Kapatid Mentor ME – Money and Market Encounter (KMME-MME): Government Services Forum, a virtual platform to share and discuss the ongoing planned programs and services aimed at supporting the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in adapting to the new normal. The significant event drew the participation of MSMEs from the provinces of CALABARZON and in the NCR.
Mr. Christian Jonel L. Arnau, RPh, Information Officer II of the FDA-Policy and Planning Service (PPS) discussed the FDA Project: Bigyang-Halaga, Bangon MSMEs (BBMSMEs). Mr. Arnau provided an overview of the FDA, including its mandate, key officials, and health product jurisdiction. He also highlighted the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the FDA and the Quezon City Government, marking the official launch of the FDA Project BBMSMEs on April 14, 2023. This pioneering project aims to empower MSMEs by providing them with opportunities to showcase their local products in the international market, thereby strengthening their businesses and contributing to the country’s economic growth. Likewise, it was emphasized that FDA is open to forge future partnerships and collaborations with other local government units, academe, and government agencies with the objective of providing training on Licensing, Registration, and Good Manufacturing Practice to all interested MSMEs.
The forum also saw the active participation of the FDA Field Regulatory Operations Office represented by Ma. Luisa L. De Sagun, Regional Supervisor of Regional Field Office (RFO) IV-A, Joan P. Molina and Maripaz M. Perez, Food-Drug Regulation Officer II of RFO NCR, as well as John Elbert T. Malelang, Information Officer II of the Policy and Planning Service. Other government agencies such as DOST, DOLE, SBCorp, and IPOPHL also presented their ongoing and planned programs dedicated for the MSMEs.
