The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Philippines Director General Samuel A. Zacate administered the oath-taking of the new Philippine Chamber of Food Manufacturers, Inc. (PCFMI) Officers and its Board of Directors on May 4, 2023, at Acacia Hotel Filinvest City, Muntinlupa City.
Dr. Zacate together with Ms. Pilar Marilyn P. Pagayunan, Director IV of FDA-Center for Food Regulation Research, also led the dialogue between the FDA and PCFMI regarding the innovations and renovations at the FDA.
The FDA Director General introduced the “Arinola Session” in relation to the event, whereby opinions, suggestions, and feedback of the stakeholders were solicited where they wrote their opinions and recommendations, then dropped in the bucket. Points to consider as discussed by DG Zacate are ways to improve FDA as a whole including its regulations, the MSMEs, and the Philippines’ food security.
Dr. Zacate commended the success and leadership of Mr. Clarke Nebrao, former Provincial Director of DTI-Laguna, with his efforts in showcasing the importance of MSMEs around the globe, which coincides with the program of FDA Bigyang-halaga Bangon MSME (BBMSME) in compliance with the marching order of President Marcos Jr.
