Today, on 10 January 2024, Calamba City hosted a momentous event—the Ceremonial Signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the City Government of Calamba. This collaboration aims to support the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Calamba, drawing attendance from various MSME sectors.
FDA Director General Dr. Samuel Zacate pledged assistance to MSMEs through the FDA’s initiative project, “Bigyang-halaga, Bangon Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises” (BBMSMEs). This program actively strengthens training, education, and subsidies for MSMEs, instilling a comprehensive understanding that their establishment and products comply with FDA standards, rules and regulations.
Expressing its commitment and gratitude, Calamba City Mayor Rosseler “Ross” H. Rizal acknowledged the significance of the MOA signing and appreciated the selection of Calamba City as one of the pilot cities in Laguna.
Question and answer took place during the event, garnering praise and suggestions from attendees. Ms. Sherill R. Quintana, Chairman of the Philippine Franchise Association and President of Calamba Chamber of Commerce and Industry, commended the FDA for not only fulfilling its regulatory mandate but also functioning as an enabling agency, providing crucial support to the MSMEs.
