On 25 April 2023, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), led by Director General Samuel A. Zacate, visited the Provincial Government of La Tabacalera, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Incubation Center. This Provincial Government project for MSMEs is a program initiated by Governor Matthew J. Marcos Manotoc to support growth aligned to the innovative and sustainable growth and development of entrepreneurship in the province.

Pursuant to the president’s thrust geared towards the revitalization and recovery of the Philippine economy, the Bigyang-Halaga, Bangon, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (BBMSME) program was recently launched to provide technical support and assistance in regulatory processes and necessary trainings. By educating the stakeholders and further capacitating MSMEs to the FDA’s jurisdiction, it will create a conducive business environment that will help local businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive and succeed.

The FDA is one with the mission of Ilocos Norte MSME Incubation Center to support and empower Filipino Local Businesses that are a potential source of world-class food products. With this BBMSME program, the FDA together with the leadership of the province of Ilocos Norte, remains committed in creating a business-friendly environment that will support MSMEs in the region and contribute to the overall growth of the Philippine economy without compromising access to safe, effective, and quality health products regulated by the FDA.
