National Consciousness Week Against Counterfeit Medicines 2021

Presidential Proclamation No. 2082 declares the 3rd week of November of each year as the “National Consciousness Week Against Counterfeit Medicines” (NCWACM). Consistent with the provisions of Republic Act No. 8203, otherwise known as the “Special Law on Counterfeit Drugs”, the FDA organized an inter-agency and multi-sectoral activity during the weeklong celebration.

This year’s NCWACM Celebration theme is “Huwag Magpaloko Manigurado Gamot na Awtorisado, ‘Yun ang Tangkilikin ‘Nyo”.  The activities will highlight the contributions of different stakeholders – the law enforcement agencies (LEA), local government units (LGU), consumer groups, the academe, pharmacy associations, and other development and international partners – in the country’s fight against counterfeit medicines.  The webinar will focus on consumer safety and welfare by advocating that medicines be bought or sourced only from FDA-licensed outlets under the supervision of licensed pharmacists.

All year round, the FDA encourages the consuming public to report continuous sale or distribution of suspected unregistered and/or counterfeit medicines. To report any sale or distribution of unregistered products, the online reporting facility, eReport can be accessed at www.fda.gov.ph/ereport or email [email protected].  Existing efforts to prevent, detect and respond to the proliferation of substandard, spurious, falsely labelled, falsified, and counterfeit medical products in the Philippine market that pose threat to public health and safety can only be sustained through the vigilance of the consuming public.

Be aware, be vigilant, be engaged, act and report in the country’s fight against counterfeit medicines! Join the weeklong NCWACM 2021 celebration from November 15 to 19, 2021 by registering now.
