Director General Dr. Samuel A. Zacate of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) graced the 1st General Membership Meeting (GMM) of the Philippine Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry (PCPI) on 07 March 2024 at Novotel Manila Araneta City. He administered the Oath-Taking and Induction of Officers of the PCPI together with Director General Nestor Perez of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA).
During the meeting, DG Zacate presented the FDA’s efforts and initiatives to streamline processes to align with Republic Act No. 11032, otherwise known as the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018. He emphasized the pharmaceutical industry’s vital role in achieving economic progress in the country.
DG Zacate and DG Perez addressed questions from PCPI members during the assembly. Both leaders shared challenges in addressing deep-rooted problems in government bureaucracy and discussed strides in changing how their agencies deliver public services.
PCPI aims to provide Filipinos access to high-quality and affordable medicines and envisions creating a globally competitive Filipino pharmaceutical industry. FDA will collaborate closely with ARTA and PCPI to create an efficient and sustainable pharmaceutical industry in the country.
