On April 11 to 13 2024, the Philippine Pharmacists Association Inc. (PPhA) held its National Convention at the Iloilo Convention Center with the overarching theme: ‘Empowering for the N.E.X.T. in Healthcare’ participated by Registered Pharmacists nationwide either virtually or onsite and key speakers from different healthcare sectors. Said convention was also attended by the FDA Director General Dr. Samuel A. Zacate, Center for Drug Regulation and Research (CDRR) Director Jesusa Joyce N. Cirunay, Center for Device Regulation, Radiation Health, and Research (CDRRHR) Director Ma. Cecilia C. Matienzo, and Director Irene V. Florentino-Farinas of the Policy and Planning Service (PPS) as discussants.
Among the topics discussed, Directors Cirunay and Matienzo delivered their insights on the “Regulations as Drivers for Innovation” while Director Florentino-Fariñas reacted on the “Insights on the Pharmacy Education Roadmap: Panel Perspectives and Consultative Reactions.” Director General Zacate joined the ‘Fireside Chat’ with the topic, “Role of Healthcare Professionals in Achieving Universal Health Coverage.” He likewise presented the 5-Point Regulatory Agenda of the FDA towards the achievement of Universal Healthcare.
The FDA would like to congratulate the PPhA headed by its President Prof. Aleth Theresa L. Dacanay and the Committee Members for the successful event.
